In less than 10 years, Whirlpool shifted from being a company focused in North America to a truly global organization. By 1994, Whirlpool was manufacturing in 11 countries, with facilities in the U.S., Europe and Latin America, and marketing products in more than 120 locations, including Thailand, Hungary and Argentina.
In 1996, a series of joint ventures, acquisitions and mergers created Whirlpool of India, Ltd., expanding the company’s portfolio in the country to include washing machines, refrigerators, microwave ovens and air conditioners. By 1997, Whirlpool had a presence in 13 countries.
