Marc Bitzer joined Whirlpool Europe in 1999 to help lead the Bauknecht brand and was named Whirlpool CEO in 2017. Despite the financial and social volatility that came along with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Whirlpool is not just surviving but growing under his leadership.
Bitzer has created a strong leadership team focused on business and cultural growth at Whirlpool. He’s led much of the company’s recent digital transformation and e-commerce and portfolio expansions, including the acquisitions of Yummly and InSinkErator. Some of Bitzer’s most important contributions have been related to upholding the values of inclusion and diversity through equality in the workplace. In 2018, he signed a pledge to increase female representation in executive and senior leadership. Two years later, Whirlpool made a pledge and developed a multiyear accountability plan to operationalize equality and fairness for Whirlpool’s Black colleagues in the U.S. and throughout its community.
